The Knox County Health Clinic offers free or low-cost health care for those who are uninsured or underinsured and cannot afford to pay for basic health care. The clinic is operated by Mid-Coast Health Net, a non-profit corporation.
Care is provided by volunteer physicians, nurses, social workers, and other personnel.
The Medical Clinic is open on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 to 9:00. Patients need to have an appointment.
The Clinic also runs a Dental Program. To inquire about applying for the dental program, call the clinic office (594-6996).
The Clinic's Prescription Assistance Program (PAP)helps patients obtain medication they might not otherwise be able to afford. By filling out an application for a PAP, a patient can receive a three months' supply of their medicine at little or no charge. Refills may be received in the same manner. The Clinic's PAP services are not only available to Clinic patients -- they are available to anyone who is uninsured and has limited financial means. To inquire about the PAP program, call 594-6994.
The Clinic is located in the Bok Building (the old "Knox Hospital"), which is across the street from the new entrance to the Rockland Public Library. Patients are seen on Wednesday evenings in an office on the 1st floor. The administrative office is located on the 2nd floor.
