Position Description: Work with the Knox Clinic Medical Team to promote and improve health for the uninsured and underinsured in our Mid Coast communities. Duties include assisting with the Medical Clinic, chronic disease management and follow-up care, patient education, and database management.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Appropriate follow-up of patients with chronic and acute health problems.  Duties include reminding patients to get testing done prior to appointments, explaining laboratory results, offering education, and managing medication in collaboration with the Clinical Director.
  • Assist Clinical Director with quality assurance oversite, including weekly data collection and quarterly reports.
  • Provide patient education in the areas of chronic disease management, health promotion and preventive care.
  • Maintain a database of clinic patients with accurate diagnoses, medications, referrals, and quality measures.
  • Assist with recruitment, training, and oversite of volunteer nurses.
  • Manage vaccination acquisition and administration with Executive Director and Prescription Assistance Coordinator.
  • Support Medical Clinic volunteers with clinical duties as needed.
  • Help cover for Executive Director as needed.
  • Perform special projects or other duties as appropriate.

Qualifications: Unrestricted license to practice nursing in the State of Maine    

Skills and Experience: 

  • Dedicated to the mission of the Clinic
  • Competent/experienced in providing the tasks outlined above
  • Comfortable with diverse populations
  • Capacity to efficiently prioritize tasks,  work independently and on a team
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Computer literacy including word processing and spreadsheet software

Hours:  Approximately 8-12 hours a week, with Wednesday evening commitment.

Compensation: Competitive, but no benefits. The Knox Clinic is an at-will employer
